Sustentation

from €25.00

Members of the parishes can pay their sustentation on this page by credit or debit card. See below for more information.

If the level you wish to give is not listed here, please use the Donations page.

Sustentation goes toward paying for ministry in the parish. The amount of sustentation requested per member was €415 in both 2019 and 2020. In 2021, this amount has been reduced to €315 per member, because of the financial difficulties that the Covid-19 pandemic has caused for many people. This is a one-year reduction only, made possible by the Diocese of Limerick dipping into cash reserves. If you are able still to pay €415 or more, please do so.

The €500 amount, labelled ‘Sustentation Plus’, is for those who would also wish to help cover additional costs, such as paying toward the Church of Ireland Priorities Fund, and paying for group expenses.

After filling out the form with your name and the church to which you are paying, please click on the shopping cart in upper right-hand corner in order to make the payment.

Please note: If you choose to pay sustentation by cheque to St. Nicholas, Adare, please make out the cheque to ‘Adare Select Vestry’. The bank will not accept it otherwise.

Pay Sustentation

Adult members of a Church of Ireland parish are asked to pay an amount called "sustentation." All the amounts received from each parish for sustentation payments go into a pool for the United Dioceses of Limerick, Killaloe, and Ardfert, of which we are a part. All the clergy of the Diocese are paid from this pool. Essentially, these donations help to "sustain" the ministry of our parishes by ensuring the presence of clerical leadership.
