Rector's Musings

Occasional musings of the Rector.

All services cancelled

Upon advice and direction from the Bishop, I have decided to cancel all worship services, including the ones that we had planned to have in Adare on 22 and 29 March. As the Bishop pointed out, we would have to clean all the surfaces regularly, and we would not really be able to maintain 'social distancing’ in the church. So I am sorry to say that the services are cancelled.

I had been leaving St. Nicholas Church open during the day, as usual, so that people could come in to pray if they wished, or just be in a peaceful place. However, I am keeping the church closed also, based on the Bishop’s advice that we would have to regularly and thoroughly clean the church (as in several times a day). We do not have the personnel to do this.

The Bishop also instructed that all meetings are cancelled or postponed. This includes the Easter Vestry (AGM of the parishes), which I had scheduled for 19 April. Those people currently in their various offices will continue until an Easter Vestry can take place.

Again, stay safe and well. And let me hear from you if you need anything or if you just want to chat.
