A service of Holy Communion commemorating Jesus giving us the tradition of the Eucharist (Holy Communion). The service remembers the events of the Last Supper that Jesus had with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. Held at St. Nicholas Church, Adare, at 8.00 on Thursday, 18 April.
The Service starts with the church lit by candlelight. After each reading one of the candles in the front of the church is extinguished. The Christ candle is extinguished following the reading Psalm 22 which Jesus quoted on the cross.
The purpose of the service is to recreate the betrayal, abandonment and the agony of the events. It is left unfinished because the story isn’t over until Easter Day.
Held at the Croom Church.
